If you’re anything like me, you watched in awe when Dean Proffitt built Joanna Stayton that closet in her yacht and thought: when I’m older, I’m gonna get a hunky handyman to build me a dream closet in my yacht one day ….. Then, the 90′s came and brought us that upgraded epic mechanical closet equipped with the “high tech” touch screen, belonging to the now iconic character, Cher, in Clueless. Now that we have MTV cribs, HGTV, reality shows, and abundant reading material in magazines and blogs, getting a sneak peek into the interiors of others (in a non-creepy way that is) is readily available for instant inspiration.
One of the things I love about Louise Roe’s closet (below), as seen on The Coveteur ‘s most recent installment, is that I imagine it looks exactly like she left it last: no MTV producer, or personal assistant, or housekeeper to line up, color coordinate, or categorize her shoes, bags, and clothes. While an organized, type A, obsessive-compulsive personality might break out into hives at the mismatched hangers, I find this quite charming and relatable. Don’t get me wrong – I would love a spacious, organized, functional closet to call my own – but first things first – I’ll need someone to buy me a place…..preferably with a big walk in closet already filled with clothes, bags and shoes ok??? OK….. that might be asking for too much – you can leave out the shoes as I’d prefer to try them on before buying first!
